About our Club

Trevor Rustin’s Kyokushin Karate Academy opened it’s doors in September 2003 in Westridge, Mitchells Plain, Cape Town, South Africa.

Training takes place in the Stephen Reagan Community Hall every Tuesday and Thursday and at Dagbreek every Monday and Wednesday.

Our Karate, although available to one and all, is generally targeting the youth in our communities. The youth in Mitchells Plain, are largely at risk to Gangsterism; Alcohol and Drug abuse; Loitering; HIV/Aids; and Domestic Violence.

These are serious challenges facing our youth of today. Kyokushin Karate is an excellent alternative to the social ills listed above and also empower our boys and girls with a number of skills needed to deal with such situations.

In the relatively short period that our club has been in existence, we have achieved significant results both on and off the Tatame. Improvements are seen in a number of areas affecting our children on a daily basis:

v      Improved School Results.

v      Improved Parent / Child relationships

v      More focused on school work.

v      House chores are done with minimum effort!

v      Friends are carefully chosen.

v      No to drugs and alcohol.

v      Become a role for class mates and neighbours.

Our fighters are respected at all Tournaments and in all categories from Kumite to Kata. They have made their mark over the years and a number of them hold provincial (state) championship titles.
