Sosai Mas Oyama created Kyokushin Karate after studying a number of martial art styles. Although Sosai Oyama had great respect for the karate that he practiced under very accomplished teachers, he felt that he wanted to take his karate to another level. This he did by introducing Full Contact Karate, which during those early years were non-existent.
